Our connection with fictional characters can be so real to us that they almost feel like family or old friends. And just as many of us use Facebook to keep up with what’s going on with family and friends, we can also use it to see the often entertaining and wacky adventures of our favourite fictional characters too! But have you ever wondered which characters have the most FB friends? Well, wonder no more, I’ve got the top three below!

(Captain!) Jack Sparrow

About: “Welcome to the official Disney page for Pirates of the Caribbean‘s Captain Jack Sparrow. Become a fan and check back often for images, quotes, and other updates from Captain Jack, Barbossa, Blackbeard and the rest of the POTC crew.”

It’s no surprise to see this savvy (come on, admit it, who didn’t know what this word meant Pre-Jack?) pirate on the most popular list, and it is quite a testament to Depp’s performance that his iconic character would still rank in the top four when it’s been a few years since there was a new Pirates film. I love how the ‘about’ section on the page begins with this quote: “You seem somewhat familiar. Have I threatened you before?”

The page bio for the Cap’n states that he’s the: “Captain of the Black Pearl, taken from him by rival pirate Hector Barbossa, now engaged in a search for the Fountain of Youth.” Of course, with Jack’s plethora of misadventures, this bio could go on and on…and on…and on, much like Jack himself! I love how Jack is also described here as an “irreverent trickster”. Be sure to read the entire ‘about’ page for more amusing stuff! But! Let’s talk about the fun posts and things you’ll find on this page, shall we? Mmm, we shall! (See, I’m already talking to myself like crazy Jack – bad sign!)

A recent post begins with, “A weekend of surprises is around the corner”, but then the accompanying picture shows us that those surprises may not be a good thing – it’s a shot of Jack gawking at a sword that had only barely missed him, and is now lodged into the planking beside him. Funny screencaps aren’t the only things shared on this page. You’ll find merchandise news here, too, like a recent notification that you can get the music from the ride: “It be too late to alter course, mateys! Set your next adventure to the soundtrack of the original Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Get it now from Disney Music Emporium: http://disneymusic.co/DMEPOTC”. Interviews with the cast will pop up from time to time, like you’ll see on the recent video starting with “Aye! Avast! The Oh My Disney Show learned how to be a pirate with help from Pirates of the Caribbean‘s Martin Klebba!” This page posts a handful a times a week, so there’s often new content to scour over! Arg!

About: “Welcome to the official Disney page for Dory from Pixar’s Finding Nemo. Become a fan and check back often for images, quotes, and other updates from Dory, Nemo and the rest of the Finding Nemo gang!”

“Just keep swimming! Just keep swimming!” Dory is the plucky sidekick to Marlin as she joins him in the seemingly impossible journey to find his son across Australia’s vast and dangerous great barrier reef. With her simplistic enthusiasm and big heart, Dory quickly won the hearts of fish lovers around the world. Her character page on Facebook shows how fervent her fans are, and this is most apparent in a photo from this past summer celebrating Global Running Day at the Disney parks. Two runners are dressed as Marlin and Dory, complete with hats and costumes, the photo is captioned, “Just keep running, running, running!”

For Halloween, they shared an adorable picture of baby Dory, dressed as a ghost, pumpkin bucket beside her: “Yes, she’s a natural boo”. There are adorable gifs aplenty, I’m talking about seriously sweet images, Dory at her best! There are also fan photos posted, like one from Disney Baby entitled: “You shall call this little one, Squishy, and they shall be your Squishy” and there’s a really cute toddler playing on the grass, decked out in squishy Marlin costume. Another posts gives you a link that will show you how to make oragami…or “oceangami”.

Do you like quizzes? If so, you’ll be pleased to find some here! You’ll be challenged: “Do you remember all these fishes? Do ya? Do ya? Can you name all of the members of the tank gang from Finding Nemo without cheating? Is your memory better than Dory’s?” And if you’ve got a fun costume party coming up, you’ll definitely want to “Recruit the Marlin to your Dory for a swimmingly good” time by reading “6 Pixar Couples Costumes for You and Your BFF: Who would Buzz be without Woody, or Mike without Sulley?” This page is usually updated once a day or so.

(PS: Nemo was #3 right behind Dory, but the pages are too similar for separate entries here.)

Patrick Star

About: “Is mayonnaise an instrument? Http://www.spongebob.com. Voiced by Bill Faberbakke.”

Are you surprised to discover that Patrick Star is the number one character page in all of Facebookdom? Well, if you’ve ever seen Spongebob you’ll know that this guy is hilarious. His voice, his mannerisms, his shenanigans…his best friend…all combine to make his page a very entertaining page, my friend! Of course, with it being Halloween, today’s post greets you with “Happy Halloween!” and then asks, “Who else is going as a haunted mattress?” And there’s a video clip of Patrick and Spongebob: “What’s the difference between that ghost and me?”

There’s lots of Patrick art, and you’ll see a lot of neat sketches and drawings of Patrick Star in various costumes outside of the cartoon (one has him dressed up as the Bride of Frankenstein). There are DIY (Spongebob style) video tutorials, like this seasonal one: “Ever wonder what Patrick’s house would look like as a pumpkin? #NationalPumpkinDay”. “Trying to figure out what you want for dinner” headlines another video clip of Squidward asking Patrick what he wants only to have Patrick lose himself in a blank stare and a prolonged “uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”.

Have you ever wondered exactly what the owner of the voice of Patrick looks like? Bill Fagerbakke is very recognizable to those of us who were watching tv in the 1990s – he’s Dauber from Coach! There’s a lovely picture of him with a giant costumed Patrick Star celebrating his (Bill’s) birthday. Additionally, if you’re a fan of video clips, you’ll certainly love this page because you’ll find a lot of them! One starts off, “In honour of Good Neighbours Day, we officially call a meeting of the members of The Royal Order of the Good Neighbour Lodge”. You’ll get new posts every couple of days here!
