No one can resist rock stars. In this modern age, Facebook is one of the biggest platforms for musicians to sell their stuff, communicate with fans, and post many a tour pic along the way. I’ve chosen the 7 most updated, fun, and fan friendly musician pages. Some are mostly maintained by the musicians themselves, some are maintained by their staff, but all 7 of these pages have different things to offer. Numbered from the post popular (determined by ‘likes’) to the least, here are the 7 best Facebook musician pages.
With 98,949,453 ‘likes’, this Latin singer and shaker has one of the biggest followings in all of Facebookdom. She frequently updates her page (supposedly the statuses are all personally posted by her), and she consistently switches between writing in English and Spanish (and sometimes both in the same post). Shakira posts ‘selfies’, tour information, videos, and information about various charities she supports. Her page also features a tab containing numerous song clips from her albums.
The Real Slim Shady hip-hop master has 91,378,659 ‘likes’ and his fans are quite prolific when it comes to commenting on his status updates. It looks like Eminem’s page is maintained mostly by his staff with a post here and there written by Eminem himself. This page contains a plethora of music and tour news, with updates averaging every few days. There are also a slew of tour photos, merchandise pictures and links, with the odd candid photo of Eminem thrown into the mix for good measure.
This fashionista rocker boasts 88,857,060 Facebook fans. Right now, Rihanna’s page is full of adorable, crazy cute candid shots of her with her newborn baby – seriously, there are A LOT of photos, many of them are Rihanna and baby ‘selfies’. In addition to photos of her domestic life, her page is full of tour information, links to magazines she’s featured in, and a number of embedded music and award videos. Rihanna also really, really wants you to buy the Rihanna fan t-shirt she’s designed because her page is littered with purchase links for the shirt every other day.
4. Katy Perry
72,135,946 fans roar along with Katy Perry on Facebook. Perry’s FB page is splattered with colour, beginning at the top with a cover photo of the word ‘Birthday’ spelled out with multi-hued and various shaped cake sprinkles. The status posts on her page look like they’re mostly made by Perry herself with the occasional staffer posting about charity funds. This page is full of candid photos, one of the recent ones is a bit scary because it’s Perry, I think, dressed up in a full pepperoni pizza hoodie that zips all the way up and over her face, but the recent TBT photo of her as a teenager with gobs of chocolate on her teeth makes up for it. Her page is fun and breezy, perfect for any ‘KatyCats’.
5. Maroon 5
34,086,459 Facebook fans really love Maroon 5. The official band page is full of video links and promotions for their latest album (spoiler alert: the new video features Adam Levine making out with hot models). This page also shares a lot of Levine’s statuses from his personal page (see number 6 on this list). The band’s page provides consistent details and updates on anything and everything Maroon 5 related including guest appearances, tour information, and solo projects taken on by various band members (although it’s usually Adam’s projects). There are also a lot of photos, but most of them are official band pics rather than candid shots.
6. Adam Levine
It’s true Adam ‘only’ has 4,981,540 ‘likes’, and I know I already featured his band, Maroon 5, on this list, but his solo page is just – interesting. It’s a strange mix of music and clothing, and it always takes a minute for me to remember that he now runs a fashion line in addition to his music career (not to mention his self named perfume line). Most of the posts seem to be written by Levine himself, and he adds humour into a lot of his plugs for his clothing line. He also promotes his acting career, but he even makes those posts fun by adding his top 5 picks for his favourite movies of various genres (the latest pick was music movies, before that was romance movies). This entrepreneur runs a pretty fun page, so he garners his own slot.
With 2,491,539 FB fans (you know Seth Cohen is one of them), this may not be one of the largest fan followings on this social media site, but it’s certainly one of the most fan friendly pages. The band members don’t seem to personally make posts, but their staffers do a good job of keeping fans constantly abreast of tour dates, interviews, and new merchandise being offered. What I find particularly impressive about this page is the more than 25 full songs and videos they have posted when most pages just give 30 second or 1 minute teaser clips.
